1.
Of all the Souls that stand create - I have elected - One - When Sense from Spirit - files away - And Subterfuge - is done - When that which is - and that which was - Apart - intrinsic - stand - And this brief Tragedy of Flesh - Is shifted - like a Sand - When Figures show their royal Front And Mists - are carved away, Behold the Atom - I preferred - To all the lists of Clay!
2.
"Hope" is the thing with feathers - That perches in the soul - And sings the tune without the words - And never stops - at all - And sweetest - in the Gale - is heard - And sore must be the storm - That could abash the little Bird That kept so many warm - I've heard it in the chillest land - And on the strangest Sea - Yet, never, in Extremity,
3.
Pain - has an Element of Blank - It cannot recollect When it begun - or if there were A time when it was not - It has no Future - but itself - It's Infinite contain It's Past - enlightened to perceive New Periods - of Pain.
4.
Great Streets of silence led away To Neighbourhoods of Pause - Here was no Notice - no Dissent - No Universe - no Laws - By Clocks, 'twas Morning, and for Night The Bells at Distance called - But Epoch had no basis here For Period exhaled.
